Ask for a written diagnosis and full repair cost before replacing a household appliance.

Compare a specified repair with a suitable replacement, not a vague estimate with the cheapest advertisement.

Identify the exact appliance

Record the model, age if known and a plain description of the fault. Keep the purchase record and any current warranty information available for the official service channel. Do not open equipment or work on wiring to create your own diagnosis.

Samsung Malaysia’s official support page links to service-centre and repair channels. For a different brand, use that manufacturer’s own support directory. A familiar logo in an advertisement does not by itself establish authorisation or the price of a repair.

Ask what the quote includes

Request separate figures for inspection, parts, labour, transport and any second visit. Ask whether an inspection fee remains payable if you decline repair, and how any later change in diagnosis would be approved. Confirm parts availability and the proposed timing in writing.

In an invented example, a RM2,000 part, RM800 labour and RM400 transport produce a RM3,200 repair cost. Compare that with a replacement’s delivery, installation and removal costs, not only its sticker price. These amounts are not a service-centre tariff or a reliability prediction.

Weigh remaining usefulness

Ask what the repair addresses and what remains uncertain. A repaired fault does not guarantee a fixed number of extra years. Consider whether the appliance still meets your household’s needs and whether being without it temporarily creates another real expense.

Choose only after you understand the diagnosis, cost and applicable repair conditions. We have not inspected your appliance, verified coverage or promised a refund. Keep the quote and receipt so later discussions refer to the work actually agreed.
